Nurture Your Child's Growth

Red Cedar Chiropractic for Pediatrics - Child Development

Your Child's Development

Your child’s spine doubles in size by age two, and reaches 60% brain development by age three. These first years foster an immense amount of neurological and physical development that impact your child for the rest of their lives.

Just like adults, our little ones are vulnerable to the impacts of stress on their nervous system and function. Dr. Scott is has a special interest in assessing, identifying and correcting spinal subluxations in babies and children.

We encourage parents to have their children checked post-birth and throughout their infancy to ensure optimal movement and function of their growing bodies.

Child Development & Chiropractic Care

Birth Trauma

Birth interventions such as traction, suction, c-section and manual maneuvering can cause trauma to the upper cervical spine and brachial plexus.

Neurological Dysregulation

Overload to the nervous system can cause imbalance in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.

Latching & Feeding

Baby’s ability to properly breastfeed is the result of 60 muscles, 22 bones and 12 cranial nerves all working together. Proper activation of these muscles, neurological reflexes and palate position are critical for a appropriate latch and optimal feeding.

Motor Milestones

Motor milestones are essential for proper spinal development and the integration of primitive neurological reflexes.

Lip, Cheek, & Tongue Ties

We work alongside local dentists to help support proper healing and unwinding of oral tethered tissues. These ties can cause difficulty with latching, fussiness and affect neural tension.

Head Shape & Position

Persistent head tilt is a sign of dysfunction and tension. This can further lead to imbalances in cranial bone development and head shape.

Milestone Checkups

An incredible amount of development occurs during the first few years of life. This includes the spine doubling in size by age two, and the brain developing 60% by age three!

Little bodies are busy making big changes. Regular milestone check-ups in the first year of life can help parents navigate the fast paced changes and development of their babies.
